About the event Cape Verde and the Challenges of the Future held in Cape Verde, in Cidade da Praia, on October 11, Agência Lusa did a report highlighting the work of LBC in this country and on the African continent, which was broadcast on LusaTV and amplified in various Portuguese media, such as News, SAPO e Minute News and main Cape Verdean media outlets, such as Islands Express and The Nation.

In the report, the Administrator of LBC, Jorge Cravo, highlighted good governance over several years, transversal to the various governments, and the potential benefit to Cape Verde that the digital economy can bring to Cape Verde, a country based on of developing the talent of its citizens.

Jorge Cravo stressed that Cape Verde has the potential to be the “Singapore of Africa” if it invests in the digital economy and if it connects to the main centers of technological innovation with a structured programme.

Cape Verde’s structured integration into technological innovation ‘hubs’ [centres] will accelerate its growth. In this sense, the Government of Cape Verde should promote a strategy to integrate the Cape Verdean technological entrepreneurial ecosystem with the European and Silicon Valley innovation and entrepreneurship networks, as its internal market is small and access to scale and large markets to succeed in innovative digital entrepreneurship.

For this to happen, there must be political will and a well-thought-out and structured plan of action.

Cape Verde now has a well-thought-out and ambitious policy for its entrepreneurial ecosystem. Additionally, it has people in the diaspora placed in positions that can leverage Cape Verde’s connection to several relevant centers.

LBC has carried out more than 50 projects in Cape Verde since 2005, the year in which LBC began its internationalization process.

Among the various projects carried out in Cape Verde, the strategy for the Information Society and Electronic Governance stands out, which laid the foundations for building Cape Verde’s digital development, the feasibility study and initial strategy for the Technology Park of Praia, the Mundo Novo Program for the application of information technologies in schools.

In addition to Cape Verde, LBC has carried out projects in five more countries on the African continent: Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, South Africa and Ghana. Currently, African markets account for around 50% of LBC’s global turnover, which makes us very proud.
