The objectives of this project were:
- Strengthen the infrastructure of cooperatives, through the strengthening of their legal framework.
- Enhance the competitiveness of cooperatives in the marketplace, by reinforcing the business structure of cooperative.
Project Overview:
- Development of platform to support the project: PROMOVE Platform (www.cooperativas.gov.ao). This platform allows access to: On-line survey of cooperatives; Cooperative Directory; Information and market opportunities and financing; Possibility to access asynchronous training; Technical assistance; Access to legislation and information relevant to the current and future directory.
- Draft Regulations and By-Laws following through the Presidential Decree 23/2015, covering the areas of agriculture, livestock and fishery production, logistics and general services.
- Prepare a draft of the by-laws for the Cooperative Regulatory Agency.
- Conduct an assessment of 150 of the 327 legalised cooperatives to identify performance gaps and potential areas for capacity building and technical assistance.
- Provide comprehensive training and technical assistance to the selected 150 cooperatives, to reinforce their management capacity, facilitate their access to PAC financing and increase their participation in the marketplace. 100 courses were delivered to about 2.000 cooperative members.
- “Train the trainer” training to the management team (IDA technicians and other stakeholders).
- Implementation of at least 7 business linking Network Events with goal to link qualified cooperatives with potential customers and financial institutions.
